What is the navigation bar?
The navigation bar is the menu displayed at the top of every page on your platform. It helps users quickly access key sections like the homepage, project pages, About page, and any custom pages you’ve added.
A well-structured navigation bar:
Makes the platform easier to navigate
Highlights what matters most to your community
Reflects your organization’s structure or priorities
You can customize the navigation bar by changing the order of items, renaming pages, and linking projects to it.
ℹ️ External links cannot be added.
What is a custom page?
A custom page is a standalone, flexible page for sharing information with your community. It’s useful for:
Department overviews (e.g., Public Works, Youth Services)
Project hubs (e.g., City Center Revitalization)
Consultation spaces (e.g., Budget planning input)
Resource centers (e.g., Public service FAQs, Local events)
Custom pages can include:
A banner image
Rich content (text, images, videos, buttons, links)
Linked projects (filtered by tag or area)
Attachments such as documents or reports
You can also add custom pages to the navigation bar for easy access.
Differences between a custom page and a folder/project
Projects hold only their own project content.
Folders can contain multiple projects and give you more flexibility in how you organize related content.
Custom pages standalone pages that purpose serving custom content, not organize or group items.
Which one should I use?
If you want a dedicated item in your navigation bar and need to group several projects together under it, we recommend using a folder. Folders can be easily customized and linked directly in the navigation bar.
ℹ️ To learn how to add a folder to your navigation bar, see the section “How to add pages, projects or folders to the navigation bar.” For a detailed guide on organizing content with folders, check out our support article Creating and Managing Folders.
