What is account management?

Your account is your personal gateway to engaging on the platform. It includes your profile details, preferences, and a record of your activity. Knowing how to manage your account gives you more control over what you share, what you receive, and how visible you are to others in the community.

This article covers:

  • Editing your personal information

  • Managing message notifications

  • Viewing your own activity

  • Understanding what’s visible to others

Understanding your activity page

Your Activity Page is your personal dashboard that displays your engagement history. It helps you keep track of your contributions to public discussions and initiatives.

It includes:

  • Your name, profile photo, join date, and bio

  • Metrics on participation (number of ideas submitted, proposals, comments, followed projects, and events attended)

This information helps build transparency and visibility within the community.

Privacy Tip:

Other users can see your profile, ideas, comments, and proposals. However:

  • Event participation and followed projects remain private.

  • Survey responses are not currently shown in the activity feed.

Which of your user data is visible on the platform?

When you register an account on the platform, you gain access to features like submitting input, commenting, and participating in projects. While creating an account requires some personal data, only the most essential and basic details are visible to other users.

What other users can see:

Every user has a public profile page. The following information may be visible to all users, both registered and unregistered:

  • Your first name

  • Your profile picture (optional, but recommended)

  • Your join date

  • Any comments or submissions you've made on the platform

Your participation (e.g. comments or submissions) is visible on project pages, just like you can view others’ contributions.

If you'd prefer to disable profile pictures across the entire platform, contact the support team via the chat bubble. Note: this will apply to all users on the platform.

What platform admins can see:

Platform admins, those managing and maintaining the platform, have access to additional data you've submitted during account registration or participation. This may include personal or demographic information, depending on the registration setup.

All data accessed by admins is handled in accordance with the platform’s Privacy Policy, which you agreed to when registering. You can revisit the Privacy Policy any time via the link in the website footer.

GDPR and cookies on the platform:

GoVocal platforms are designed to be GDPR-compliant by default. This means:

  • Analytical and functional cookies are not active unless you give explicit consent.

  • You can review or update your cookie preferences at any time to control what data is collected as you navigate the platform.

This helps ensure your privacy and gives you control over how your personal data is used.

How to change and delete your data?

  • Go to your profile settings:

Click your name in the top-right corner and select ‘My Settings’.

  • Edit your information:

On your profile page, you can update your name, bio, and any other editable details. Keep in mind that your name and profile picture (if added) are visible to other users on the platform.

  • Save your changes:

Click the red ‘Save changes’ button. A green confirmation message will appear: “Your profile has been saved.”

  • Remove optional data (if needed):

If you’re no longer comfortable sharing certain details, you can delete any optional fields in your profile.

  • Delete your account (if desired):

You may choose to fully delete your account if you no longer wish to participate. If you change your mind later, you can create a new account using the same email address.

    • Click your name in the top-right corner and select ‘My Settings’. Scroll down to Delete your account section

Important limitation:

If your platform uses ID verification during registration, some fields, like domicile or other verified data, may be locked and not editable. This is because such data is pulled directly from the verification system to confirm your eligibility (e.g., residence in a specific municipality).

These fields are not editable by the user to ensure compliance and data integrity.
